WHO’S REALLY CALLING YOU ?

You receive a phone call from your bank, but how can you be sure it's them on the line?

It might look like the phone number on your bank statement – or even the one on the back of your debit card – but that doesn’t guarantee it’s your bank calling. Instead, you could be talking to a fraudster. It’s a malicious trick known as ‘number spoofing’.

The regulator Ofcom doesn’t know how big a threat this is in the UK but there’s been a worrying increase in reports of this type of scam.
