I'm writing to let you know that some of our teams will shortly be in your parish conducting ecological and environmental surveys as part of our Weston Marsh to East Leicestershire project.

These surveys will help us gather important information about the local environment, which we need to help shape our plans and prepare key reports - such as the Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR) and Design Development Report (DDR) - ahead of our Stage 2 public consultation next year. It will also be used in our Environmental Statement (ES) which will be submitted as part of our Development Consent Order (DCO) application.

For all our surveys, we work closely with Natural England and other statutory bodies to ensure everything is agreed in advance and carried out in line with industry best practice.

As part of this work, we’ll also be getting in touch with landowners along the project route to request access for surveys. With their agreement, we expect to begin further survey work on private land from January 2026.

More information

I do hope the above helps, but if you have any questions or would like to know more, please do get in touch. We’re more than happy to come along to a parish meeting - in person or via teams to hear from your community and answer any questions they may have at this stage. We can share information about our proposals, our feedback analysis, the process we’re going through now and community benefits.
